FAQ

Q: What should we wear?

A: For dancing you always want to wear clothing in which you are comfortable moving and working with a partner. Please be aware of trip hazards, such as extra long hemlines, or accessories which may hit a partner during a spin. You will want to be prepared to tie long hair back and out of the way.

Q: What shoes do we need?

A: A shoe with a suede sole is ideal. These include jazz shoes, character shoes, theater dance shoes, etc. As a beginner, feel free to wear any shoe that will allow you to spin on a wooden floor. Please test your shoes ahead of time to avoid injury on the dance floor. High heels are not recommended.

Q: If we need to purchase dance shoes, where can we find them and what should we buy?

A: While Amazon has a selection of acceptable options, in order to get your dance shoes fitted properly, Petticoat Junction is a great local dance shop to visit. Dance sneakers are generally the most comfortable and cost-effective option for new dancers.

Q: Is previous dance experience necessary?

A: Nope! This class is designed with the beginner in mind and is a great way for kids with zero dance experience to learn a brand new skill with a fun, social activity. Have patience with yourself and your classmates and we'll all have a great time!
